Welcome!

Benjamin Javitz - Authorbenjamin.javitz@osqledaren.se

Change is always difficult. You get thrown into a new environment, move to a new school, a different city, another country or even a different continent.

You lose your footing, your sense of stability and familiarity. The feeling that you know what to do and what not to do, what the rules are, who to ask for help, how to make decisions and how to grow.

When I started studying in Germany in 2015, I had no idea what was waiting for me. My parents had never studied and couldn’t give me advice, I had been struggling with my mental health for years and I didn’t know who to turn to for help. But that didn’t stop me, and neither should it stop you. Do not let this insecurity keep you from moving forward and building your future. Turn it into curiosity and passion, take risks and try new things, find a home at KTH.

The magazine you’re holding right now is called Osqledaren. It is made by students and for students. Our mission is to report on things that happen at KTH and THS, investigate topics that concern students while entertaining you in the process. Always in the students’ interest - to make your time here better, fairer, more open and more inclusive.

Very soon, you will be part of the reception, an event with thousands of students and hundreds of organisers. You will get to know your fellow students and learn about how to navigate this new chapter in your life. Your next couple years will shape your future. Use this time to find something that makes you so passionate, excited and intrigued that you forget everything else around you. Look for it not only in your studies, but in your chapters and associations, on campus and in Stockholm. Look not only for knowledge, but also for people. You might meet lifelong friends or partners, mentors or people that will look to you for advice in a few years.

On these pages you will find articles by the members of THS Kårledning, the management team in your student union. They are students like you but have taken a year of their time to make your time at KTH as amazing as possible. They will give you tips, tricks and advice and encourage you to participate. The possibilities are endless - from collecting more patches than anyone else to attending every spex or gasque on campus, from making student life more sustainable to making it more international, from participating in your chapter to THS Central. Keep your eyes open - there’s so much more to come.
